No doubt about it, the 50s were a rolicking good time. Rock n' roll, hot rods, malt shops, crooners, microwaves, TV, and all those pearls and pastels! It's no wonder the era has been memorialized in films, shows, books, and music. But one custom outdoes the rest as the ultimate 50s nod: the sock hop!??
Sock hops???school dances???got their name, actually, because of the requirement for students (mostly teens) to kick off their kicks (shoes) and dance in socks, so they didn't scuff up the wood floors of the gym. We're not sure why people were so worried about scuffing up a school gym floor; it seems like of all the surfaces in a school, the gym should be most acceptably scuffed. But then again, most kids don't run around in heels anymore, so...anyway...we digress. Anyway, whether you keep them on to dance or not, you can kick up your heels for the big dance in this Sock Hop Cutie Costume! Grab a date in a letterman jacket and prepare to meet your friends at the diner later, because this is going to be a real scream!

This look is sugar and spice and everything nice! The dress is styled to look like a skirt, blouse, and belt for ease of wear, and the bright pink blouse sports a notched collar and cuffed sleeves, in classic 50s style. The skirt is really something! It's got iconic, era-appropriate polka dots atop a flared black base, as well as pink music note appliques.
