When The Princess Bride came out, everyone was relieved to finally get confirmation that pirates and farmboys have always been better than stuck up princes. We knew it all along. Most of the princes in fairy tales have only been known for their horses and castles. They didn't even have names. So, when we met the romantic, charming, and courageous Westley it felt like a breath of fictional air! It was wonderful to watch a hero with character.??
Westley had plenty of patience when it came to tracking down and wooing the love of his life. Nothing could stop him. Instead of succumbing to the Dread Pirate Roberts, he worked for him, convincing the hardened criminal he had to live because he had what others didn't: true love.
