Wow, you go, Princess Jasmine! When??Aladdin??came out we hadn't encountered a princess who ruled??at??speaking??out for herself yet. So, it was refreshing when, in her first scene, we saw her tiger chasing off a suitor in the peaceful gardens of the palace. She never turns into a simpering maiden in distress, even when she's trapped in a magical hour glass. Yeah, she??gets??rescued??by Aladdin but he got her into that trouble in the first place!??
Jasmine wasn't afraid to make herself heard in a palace run by men. She put her cool curved slipper down when her father was pressuring her to kow-tow??to suitors. She executed the perfect eye roll at??Jafar's??simpering attitude more than a few times. And when Aladdin steps out of line she calls him out right away! Our favorite moment? When she clears that rooftop jump with a royal grace that makes you wonder if they offer parkour lessons at the palace.????
